On this week’s WWE RAW, Riddle’s got a big obstacle to get through. Riddle’s SmackDown bout with Roman Reigns was upped in stakes less than a week before his chance to capture the uncontested championship. On Monday’s episode of Raw, Paul Heyman declared that Riddle would not only fight Reigns on Friday night, but that if he lost, he would never receive another opportunity at the championship.

Rollins faced AJ Styles for a spot in the Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match, and the ‘Phenomenal One’ was defeated via pinfall. Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan qualified for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match after defeating Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop in the qualifying match. To cement the deal for herself and Morgan, Bliss used a Spike DDT on her old tag team teammate Nikki. So, let’s look at some highlights and results of WWE RAW.

WWE RAW matchcard

  • Montez Ford vs Jimmy Uso
  • Dana Brooke vs Becky Lynch (24/7 Championship)
  • Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan vs Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H.
  • Ezekiel vs Kevin Owens
  • MVP vs Cedric Alexander
  • AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins (Money in the Bank Qualifier)
  • Matt Riddle vs Tommaso Ciampa
  • Mustafa Ali vs Chad Gable
  • Rey Mysterio vs Veer Mahan

Paul Heyman made an appearance on Miz TV to kick off the show. Miz discussed the history of Money in the Bank and the chances of a successful cash-in based on previous winners’ experiences. When you cash in against Roman Reigns, according to Heyman, your chances of winning are none. Heyman then stated that he has asked WWE management to add a condition to Riddle’s undisputed title match against Roman Reigns on Friday’s SmackDown. This drew Riddle to the ring, where he declared that stipulations were irrelevant because Reigns would have to murder him to prevent him from winning the championship. Riddle will either win and become champion, or he will never get another chance at the belt, according to Heyman.

Montez Ford vs Jimmy Uso

Montez Ford faced Jimmy Uso, looking to ride on the momentum the Profits had had after defeating the Uso brothers in a non-title bout a week previously. Ford battled courageously, defeating his opponent’s punishing attack and rolling late. Unfortunately for Ford, Jimmy took advantage of his momentum by putting his knees up on a frog splash attempt and rolling him up for the victory. Winner: Jimmy Uso

Seth Rollins attempted to defend his attack on Cody Rhodes a week ago during an interview with Kevin Patrick by blaming his competitor and claimed that everything is OK now that he has ejected The American Nightmare from WWE. The Money in the Bank match was next, according to Rollins, and it would begin with the weak AJ Styles. To close the session, The Phenomenal One appeared and smacked Rollins out of his chair.

Dana Brooke vs Becky Lynch (24/7 Championship)

Dana Brooke and Becky Lynch’s 24/7 Championship bout never got off the ground as Big Time. Becks savagely assaulted the titleholder, thrashing her about the ring before admitting it was all for show. Instead, she has a lot of rage that she needs to release. Asuka was called out for a brawl, which ended with Big Time Becks escaping to the floor.

Winner: No contest

Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan vs Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H.

Liv Morgan and Alexa Bliss fought Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. in tag team action on RAW to determine the first two Raw brand competitors to qualify for the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match on July 2. Bliss and Morgan had excellent synergy as they triumphed over their determined opponents.

Winner: Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan

Ezekiel vs Kevin Owens

In a rematch from Hell in a Cell on Monday night, Kevin Owens and Ezekiel continued their battle. Prior to the commercial break, Owens brushed off a heavy hit from a Death Valley Driver onto the ring stairs to reclaim control of the match. He pounded, bashed, and punished his opponent, but the babyface pounced on a lone opportunity and rolled into the ring just in time, beating the referee’s count and stunning Owens. Ezekiel’s post-match announcement that his brother, Elias, will return to WWE Raw next week offers fans something to look forward to on Monday night.

Winner: Ezekiel

MVP vs Cedric Alexander

MVP accompoanied with Omos came to the ring and destroyed Cedric Alexander. MVP hit the playmaker to win the match. Following a brief match in which Omos interfered, Omos stepped into the ring and tossed Alexander to the sidelines.

Winner: MVP

AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins (Money in the Bank Qualifier)

Styles tweaked his knee late in the match, and Rollins took advantage, planting the former WWE champion with a chop block. Styles, on the other hand, withstood the storm and dodged a frog splash from the the Visionary. It came down to a nice, old-fashioned reversal as Rollins reversed a sunset flip into a rollup for the win in a match where each man took a significant risk, frequently for the worse.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Matt Riddle vs Tommaso Ciampa

Even while Riddle’s new-found opponent, The Miz, watched from the announcer’s table, Ciampa received no entrance, was not advertised for a bout with the no. 1 contender, and had no chance of winning. Despite a thrilling near-fall by the Bostonian, Riddle rallied back and won with the RKO, gaining momentum ahead of his title shot on Smackdown on Friday night.

Winner: Matt Riddle

After the break, Judgment Day clipped more of the generic, gloomy promos that had become a feature of the group, interrupting a promo by Raw women’s champion Bianca Belair. Given that Finn Balor‘s entrance coincided with Edge’s departure and his assumption of the leadership role, the fact that he was given nothing substantive to say is alarming.

Mustafa Ali vs Chad Gable

Mustafa Ali went from being a major contender for the United States Championship to fighting an unannounced, insignificant contest against the similarly underappreciated Chad Gable, all while Otis stood ringside. Ali’s downhill spiral continued, as he went from No. 1 contender to losing to tag team specialist Gable rather cleanly, despite a brief diversion from Otis. The contest had nothing innately wrong with it, given to Gable and Ali’s above-average abilities. But the audience wasn’t really into it.

Winner: Chad Gable

Rey Mysterio vs Veer Mahan

The feud between Rey Mysterio and Veer Mahan resumed, with the latter continuing his path of devastation on the main roster thus far. Mahan took control of the match and caught Mysterio in the Cervical Clutch, thereby ending their rivalry.

Winner: Veer Mahan

After this, there was a pose down between Bobby Lashley and the WWE United States Champion Theory before the end of WWE RAW. Before the audience voted, both men performed three positions. The theory asked that supporters yell for him before asking who won, which elicited a tremendous round of applause from the audience. Theory then sprayed Lashley’s eyes with baby oil before pushing him out of the ring and snapping a series of photographs.
