Hubert Hurkacz is a professional tennis player from Poland. Currently the number one Polish tennis player in the world, Hurkacz is also the only Pole to win an ATP Masters title.

Overall, he's won a total of 6 titles - four in singles and two in doubles. But where he can improve is in his Grand Slam showings.

He's only made it past the second round of a Grand Slam of one occasion - Wimbledon 2021. Beyond that, his best Grand Slam showings in all other Slams are the same.

In the Australian Open, French Open and US Open, Hurkacz has not made it beyond the second round.

But don't let that fool you; on his day, Hurkacz is one of the best all-court players in world tennis. His ability to play either off the baseline or close to the net makes him a dangerous player.

What's more, he is very effective when on serve and can often finish points easily when serving.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that tennis runs in his blood. His mother played tennis and was a champion at the junior level.

His uncle, Tomasz Maliszewski, also played the sport at a professional level. And what's more his younger sister Nika is also a professional tennis player.

Hurkacz took up the sport at the age of five in 2002; by 2008, many saw him as one of the best young tennis players in Poland.

A decent junior career that saw him reach a ranking as high as 29 led to him turning pro in 2015. But it would be a few more years before his talent shone through at that level.

Second-round appearances at the French and US Open in 2003 saw him break the top 100 of the ATP rankings.

2019 brought him his first success on the ATP Tour; he won the Winston-Salem Open with a finals win over Benoit Paire.

But 2021 was arguably his best year. Not only did he win two more ATP 250 events - the Delray Beach Open and the Moselle Open - he also won the Miami Masters by beating Jannik Sinner in the final.

This was also the year he made it to the semis of a Grand Slam for the first time. He reached the final four at Wimbledon before losing to Matteo Berrettini.

He even made it to the ATP Finals at the end of the year. However, it was a debut to forget for Hurkacz; he lost all his round-robin matches. As a result, he did not make it to the semi-finals.

But he showed enough talent to prove he belongs in the upper echelons of the tennis world.
