Owens became a part of several wrestling units that includes International Wrestling Syndicate, Combat Zone Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, Ring of Honor, and most importantly among all WWE, where he received recognition in his wrestling career.

Kevin Owens is now being called second to Stone Cold Steve Austin on the World Wrestling Entertainment platform.

Kevin Steen was born on May 7, 1984, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. Steen always wanted to be a professional wrestler hence he involved himself at the early age of 14. KEVIN OWENS WWE

On August 12, 2014, WWE announced that Steen had signed with them and was due to report to their developmental system NXT on August 25. His new ring name had only the surname changed to Owens, a tribute to his son Owen and NXT began airing promotional videos on November 20 to hype his upcoming debut.

Owens made his unannounced main roster debut on the May 18 episode of Raw, responding to John Cena’s United States Championship open challenge, but instead of competing in the match he attacked Cena and stomped on the United States title in a show of disrespect, setting up a non-title match between the two at Elimination Chamber on May 31, which Owens won cleanly by pinfall.

NXT Champion

Kevin Steen made his NXT debut as Kevin Owens in 2014 and went on to become the NXT Champion after a great feud with Sami Zayn. Both as friends and adversaries, the two had incredible chemistry. Owens was effective in performing a spectacular rivalry with Finn Balor after Zayn. Needless to say, Owens had already piqued the interest of the WWE Crowd enough to be brought up to the main roster.

Owens made his main roster debut as the NXT Champion. After a few weeks, he challenged John Cena for the United States Title, which he won at the Elimination Chamber. Following that, he dropped his belt to Cena, therefore ending their feud.

Owens won the Intercontinental Title in September 2015 after defeating Ryback at Night of Champions. At TLC, Owens lost his title to Dean Ambrose. Subsequently, he proceeded to choose rivalries with numerous WWE Superstars in a row. Because of their history at the Royal Rumble, he faced AJ Styles in an Iron Man bout. Owens came in at number eighteen and defeated AJ Styles in the latter’s inaugural bout. He also had a fight with his former opponent, Sam Zayn, before joining the Universal Title film.

Becoming the WWE Universal Champion

Owens was recruited by RAW, where he continued to battle Sami Zayn. Following that, he went on to qualify for the WWE Universal Championship four-way elimination match, defeating Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Big Cass. Yet, it was Triple H’s intervention that helped Owens win the championship.

Owens went on to prove why he earned the championship by successfully defending it twice against Seth Rollins. He had become so influential that he was selected co-captain of the RAW team at Survivor Series alongside Chris Jericho. On the big day, though, Owens was noticeably tense with Jericho.

Meanwhile, Owens became embroiled in a championship rivalry with Roman Reigns. He eventually retained his championship against Reigns, Jericho, and Braun Strowman before losing it to Goldberg, who had challenged Owens to a Championship battle at Fastlane.

Owens was drafted to SmackDown Live during the 2017 WWE Superstar Shakeup. He subsequently feuded with Chris Jericho for a bit before defeating AJ Styles to win the US Title, although that didn’t last long. Owens was anxious for another crack at the crown after many challenges.

This resulted in one of Owens’ most notable feuds, pitting him against the Authority’s Shane McMahon. Following his assault on Vince McMahon, Owens fought Shane O’Mac at Hell In A Cell, where he was assisted by his long-time foe Sami Zayn.

Since then, Owens and Zayn have been embroiled in a rivalry with the Authority, and the two have been successful in gaining the SmackDown General Manager’s favor.

Joining forces with Seth Rollins

Kevin Owens quickly challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Title at TLC 2020 and then again at Royal Rumble 2021, but both times he failed to capture the championship. He quickly redirected his attention to Sami Zayn, reigniting their old animosity. He beat Zayn at WrestleMania 37 and thereafter assaulted Logan Paul.

He was drafted into RAW again in 2021. Owens chose a feud with then-WWE Champion Big E and title contender Seth Rollins. On Day 1, he would enter the championship match. Owens and Rollins would later become friends on the drive to the event.

Both stars failed to win the championship and went on to compete for the RAW Tag Team Championships on an episode of the RAW brand. Soon after, Owens began voicing his unhappiness with WrestleMania38 being held in Texas, a town he despised.

Sharing the stage with Stone Cold “Steve Austin”

He ultimately invited Stone Cold Steve Austin to the KO Show at WrestleMania. Austin is a Texas native who accepted Owens’ offer to the KO Show. The argument during the KO Show at WrestleMania 38 Saturday quickly heated up, resulting in a bout, Austin’s first since WrestleMania XIX.

This was also Owens’ first time in the main event of WrestleMania. At the event, Austin defeated The Prizefighter, prompting Owens to redirect his attention to Ezekiel, Elias’ younger brother, whom Owens claimed was merely Elias trying to trick everyone. This resulted in a series of matches, culminating in a match at Hell In A Cell, which Owens won.

Kevin Owens has resurrected his prior persona, the Prizefighter. He was hurt on a RAW episode after severely attacking Ezekiel before his match.

Getting in a feud with The Bloodline

On November 26, Owens, The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, and Butch), and Drew McIntyre were defeated by The Bloodline in a WarGames match at Survivor Series WarGames. Owens was defeated by Reigns in an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble on January 28, 2023. Owens stopped Zayn from a beating by Reigns and Jimmy Uso following the Elimination Chamber main match. On the next night of Raw, Zayn extended an olive branch to Owens and asked that they work together to bring down The Bloodline, but Owens declined.

On the March 17, 2023, edition of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes urged Owens and Zayn to reconcile so that they could face The Bloodline together, but Owens rejected it once more. Later that night, Zayn was beaten up by The Usos after confronting Jey Uso in the ring. Owens dashed out the door to save Zayn and embraced him.

Owens and Zayn would go on to defeat the Usos in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Night 1 to become the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions, becoming the 23rd WWE Grand Slam champion. This was also Owens’ second year as a main eventer at WrestleMania, and his first championship win in six years.
