Fergal Devitt (born 25 July 1981, Bray, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish professional wrestler currently signed to WWE and is well known by his in-ring name Finn Balor. Finn was the inaugural WWE Universal Champion and a two-time NXT and Intercontinental Champion.
Balor is famous for his time with New Japan Pro-Wrestling where his name was Prince Devitt. In Japan, he is a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, having held the title twice with Minoru and four times with Ryusuke Taguchi. He is known for being a founding member of the Bullet Club stable.
After signing with NXT, Balor won the NXT Championship and was the longest-reigning champion at 292 days until Adam Cole broke the record on 19 March 2020. Also during his time in NXT, Bálor became the first co-winner of the inaugural Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Samoa Joe.
After arriving on the main roster, he became the first wrestler in WWE history to win a world title in their pay-per-view debut and the second ever Irish world champion in WWE after Sheamus as well as becoming the quickest wrestler in WWE history to win a world title at 27 days following his main roster debut by becoming the inaugural WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2016.
During his time on the main roster, Bálor was also a two-time Intercontinental Champion. In 2021, the NXT Championship became officially recognized by WWE as a world championship during Balor’s reign making him a three-time world champion in WWE.
Finn was born on 25 July 1981 in Bray, County Wicklow to Fintan and Leonie Devitt. He is the second oldest of five children. He attended St. Cronan’s School in Bray. Before deciding to become a professional wrestler, he played association football and Gaelic football. He is a huge fan of The British Bulldogs, Shawn Michaels, Rick Rude, Mr Perfect, Koko B. Ware, and Savio Vega.

On May 15, 2014, Finn Balor signed with WWE and joined NXT. He debuted on October 23, with Itami and defeated Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel. He entered NXT Championship No. 1 contender’s tournament and won it but he came up short against NXT Champion Kevin Owens.
Later on, he defeated Owens and won the NXT title. In April, he retained the NXT title after defeating Samoa Joe. On April 17, he became the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history.
He was drafted to Raw in July 2014. He debuted for the brand on July 25 and won the right to compete for the WWE Universal Championship by first defeating Cesaro, Rusev, and Kevin Owens in the Fatal 4-way match, and then by defeating Roman Reigns. Balor then defeated Seth Rollins at SummerSlam and became the WWE Universal Champion, winning his first world title. Sadly, he sustained a shoulder injury in that match and had to relinquish his Universal title the very next day on RAW.
Finn has since gone on to win the Intercontinental title and the United States title and has been involved in many compelling and interesting rivalries.

Finn Balor married Vero Rodriguez in a private ceremony on 19 August 2019. Vero is a sports journalist from Mexico. The pair confirmed their relationship in June 2019, during an interview at the UEFA Champions League final and he proposed to Rodríguez the following day. They reside in Orlando, Florida.

In April 2006, he made his NJPW debut against El Samurai, using the ring name Prince Devitt. Devitt later stated in an interview with PowerSlam Mag that New Japan renamed him Prince Devitt because nobody Japanese could pronounce his actual name.
He suffered a serious shoulder injury in the match against Seth Rollins and was forced to relinquish the belt just 24 hours later, before disappearing for almost nine months to recover.
