The Underdog from the Underground has made his way to being one of the top superstars in the WWE and by the looks of it is not going away anytime soon.

Sami Zayn is riding a wave of greatness that is quite literally unmatched at this point. The former NXT Champion has been the center of attraction on SmackDown for the last couple of months and it is truly what he deserves. From losing matches to the likes of Johnny Knoxville to being a mainstay in The Bloodline, Sami has done it all and he is enjoying what he is doing as you can see it in his work.
Sami made his name in the WWE during his stellar NXT run where he had memorable matches with the likes of Neville, Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura etc. The match between Zayn and Neville at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution where he won the NXT title was a great match and what was symbolic was that he was congratulated by the whole NXT locker room afterwards including his best friend, Kevin Owens. Zayn held the title for 62 days before losing it to Owens at NXT TakeOver: Rival.
One of the biggest WWE pops in recent memory was when Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart introduced Sami Zayn to fans in his hometown of Montreal, Canada. Zayn took part in the United States Open Challenge for John Cena’s US title. Zayn put on a great show despite injuring his shoulder before the match during his entrance. That showed everyone just how dedicated he was to making his WWE career a success.

Feuds with Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens continued after that and no matter the outcome, Zayn kept himself relevant. He diligently kept working hard and became the Intercontinental Champion and it was well deserved. During his IC title reign, Sami had memorable feuds with the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles and Big E and fair to say, the matches were great as is always the case with the aforementioned superstars.
Zayn then started a gimmick where he became known as the Conspiracy theorist and the Great Liberator during which time he believed the WWE higher ups were holding him back from achieving his true potential. He lost a lot of matches during this time and it only served to make him even more paranoid. It served for great viewing for fans. Zayn also went on to have a high profile match with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38 after which he went on to become a laughing stock in the locker room, aligning greatly with his character development.

Having seemingly lost all the respect from his peers, in a last ditch attempt to gain back some respect, Zayn joined The Bloodline after taking some bullets for Roman Reigns and The Usos and he has been on a roll since then. What has been interesting in all of this is the social media interactions he has been having with the likes of Rikishi (father of The Usos) and the rest of The Bloodline. His apparent beef with Jey Uso is well documented but it is equalized with the good rapport he shares with Jimmy Uso.

There are a lot of people that can have great matches even when they don’t have a title to fight for as was made clear with the likes of Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles etc. But to keep developing a character in the way Zayn has where he not only elevated himself but also the likes of the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns requires some talent and skill and it looks like Sami has all that and more in abundance. So to see him finally get the recognition he deserves is very heartwarming and bodes well for the future of the WWE.
