The Diamond League track and field series is returning to the iconic London Stadium for the first time since 2019 on July 23rd, 2023. The London Diamond League 2023 will mark the tenth stop of the international athletics series before it pauses for the World Athletics Championships 2023. The upcoming meet in the British capital promises a star-studded field that includes some of the most formidable athletes in the sprint disciplines.

Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson and American sensation Sha’Carri Richardson, both of whom boast some of the fastest 100m times this year, are set to take part in the women’s race. British sprint queen Dina Asher-Smith will also be competing in the event. In the men’s 200m, Noah Lyles from the United States, the reigning world champion, will be leading the charge. Britain’s national sprint double champion, Zharnel Hughes, will join him in the race and will intensify the contest.

The women’s 400m hurdles spotlight will be on Dutch ace Femke Bol, who has been in exceptional form this season. Meanwhile, the men’s 400m race is expected to feature a strong performance from South African world record holder Wayde Van Niekerk, who is steadily regaining his top form. Ryan Crouser from the USA, the double Olympic champion, remains the one to watch in the shot put event. In the men’s discus, the reigning world champion Kristjan Čeh from Slovenia, and Sweden’s reigning Olympic gold medallist, Daniel Ståhl will be favorites to win.

The women’s pole vault promises an exciting spectacle with the United States duo including world silver medallist Sandi Morris and Katie Moon and Britain’s Holly Bradshaw, the Olympic bronze medallist. In long-distance action, the women’s 5000m is set to feature Dutch long-distance runner Sifan Hassan. She returns to the English capital, a city where she kicked off her marathon journey with a triumph at the London Marathon 2023.
