Last year, WWE confirmed that the Money in the Bank 2022 pay-per-view would be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the same site that hosted the SummerSlam 2021 event last August (with Roman Reigns vs. John Cena as the main event). However, the management said on Thursday that the performance would be moved from the football arena to the MGM Grand Garden Arena. On Thursday afternoon, supporters received an email informing them of the transfer. The reason for the change was not provided, but the performance will still take place on July 2.

SummerSlam 2021 drew nearly 51,000 fans, while the Las Vegas Raiders’ home stadium has a capacity of up to 71,835. Conversely, the Garden Arena can hold about 17,000 people. The most recent big wrestling pay-per-view held within the stadium, AEW’s Double or Nothing 2019, drew over 11,000 spectators. WWE had previously held pay-per-views in Vegas, but had not done so in the T-Mobile Arena since last year’s SummerSlam. UFC 276, headlined by UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya vs. Jared Cannonier, is already set for July 2.

WWE’s Pay-per-view schedule for 2022

Money in the Bank 2022 was meant to kick off a run of WWE stadium pay-per-views that would go until Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in early November. The following is the company’s pay-per-view schedule for the remainder of 2022:

  • Hell in a Cell — June 5 at Allstate Arena, Rosemont, Illinois
  • Money in the Bank — July 2 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise (Las Vegas), Nevada
  • SummerSlam — July 30 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Clash at the Castle — Sept. 3 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales
  • Crown Jewel — Nov. 5 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
  • Survivor Series — Nov. 26 at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts

Though Cody Rhodes was highly highlighted in the event’s promotion and commercial, the reported main event for Money in the Bank was an Undipusted WWE Universal Championship battle between Roman Reigns and Riddle. Brock Lesnar was originally included in the show’s local promotion, however “The Beast” hasn’t been on WWE TV since losing at WrestleMania 38, and despite being on the original poster, was not present at WrestleMania Backlash. Keep an eye out for updates on the situation.
