Shayna Baszler attacked Ronda Rousey during their Women’s Tag Team Championship bout against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez at Saturday’s WWE Money in the Bank 2023 pay-per-view event. As a result, the latter reclaimed the championships. Ronda Rousey stormed to the ring on this week’s edition of RAW and demanded that Shayna Baszler come out and explain why she assaulted her. Baszler wasted no time, charging to the ring and informing Rousey that she would not be in WWE if it weren’t for her.
Baszler went on to allege that Rousey was not present for her on her hardest days, which included setting up the ring and performing indie events in front of 30 people. Rousey had everything delivered to her on a silver platter, according to Baszler, and she was sick of it. Baszler struck Rousey with a running knee strike as the two women brawled.

It was definitely a surprise when Shayna Baszler turned on Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank in London, losing the two of them the tag team belts. There was nothing to suggest a change was on the way, and all signals pointed to the two enjoying a long reign as champions.
So, what exactly happened? According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Rousey will be departing WWE sooner than later, and the tale they planned to tell has been pushed to fit that.
“This was always, always, always the plan. It kept getting delayed and then Ronda got hurt and the thing was – and I don’t know the date, and it might be SummerSlam, it might be a little bit after – the deal is that Ronda has a hard out. She gave a date, ‘This is my last date.’”
Dave Meltzer also spoke on why Ronda Rousey was put in a tag team action with Shayna Baszler. “They want to do a feud. The whole tag team was to set up Ronda and Shayna doing a feud. Ronda wanted to do this feud with Shayna, she got what she wanted. She’s always wanted to do it because Shayna is the one who got her basically into pro wrestling.”
A major bout like this would absolutely make sense at an event like SummerSlam next month in Detroit, especially if the time limitations are as severe as Meltzer suggests. In any case, it appears like Rousey’s time in WWE is coming to an end. At least for the time being.
