On WWE Night of Champions 2023, Roman Reigns will reach a massive milestone

Roman Reigns won the Universal Championship all the way back at WWE Payback 2020. At WrestleMania 38 last year, he won the WWE Championship as well and has held on to both titles ever since.

The WWE Undisputed Universal Champion, The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns is already on top of his game. Now, there is more information on when he will defend his championship next. Roman Reigns last defended his title to the main event against “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39, Night 2. He defended his championship to retain the championship gold.

Though many speculated Cody Rhodes to be crowned the new champion. It seems WWE has different plans for “The Tribal Chief” and Cody Rhodes. Currently, it looks like Cody Rhodes is going to go in a feud with Brock Lesnar to get his revenge for a senseless beatdown by “The Beast Incarnate” on the episode of RAW right after WrestleMania 39.

According to the most recent Ringside News report, Roman Reigns will defend his belts on May 27, 2023 at WWE Night of Champions. The performance will be broadcast live from Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Super Dome. There is no word yet on who his opponent will be on the show.

Also, with this Roman Reigns is going to set a new milestone. WWE Night of Champions falls on the exact 1000-day milestone of Reigns’ current reign as world champion – a remarkable achievement that no other superstar has achieved in decades. Roman Reigns first won the Universal Championship at WWE Payback 2020. He also won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 last year and has held both belts since.

After the Saudi show’s name, King and Queen of the Ring, was changed to Night of Champions recently, many people theorized that Reigns’ achievement may have been the catalyst for the name change. It will be intriguing to watch who challenges the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Tribal Chief.

Roman Reigns will not be part of the WWE Backlash PPV

The undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is apparently not set to appear at the Backlash premium live event on May 6. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News), Reigns was not scheduled to perform at Backlash as of Monday, but he is scheduled to wrestle at other premium live events in the coming months.

Reigns surprise defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39 last weekend, owing to intervention from Solo Sikoa, extending his reign as world champion to nearly 900 days. Rhodes challenged Reigns to a rematch on Monday’s Raw, but he rejected it. Reigns instead decided to team up with Sikoa versus Rhodes and a partner of his choice.

Brock Lesnar came forward and agreed to be Rhodes’ partner, but before the main event of Raw could begin, Lesnar savagely assaulted Rhodes, implying that he will face great obstacles before returning to Reigns. Given that WWE appears to be building for Rhodes vs Lesnar as the big event of Backlash, the business can afford to leave Reigns off the schedule.
