Prior to the 2022 edition of Elimination Chamber, we have one more stop in the shape of this week’s WWE Smackdown, which will have the Universal Champion and a historic challenger square off in the main segment.

The WWE Intercontinental Championship will also be on the line, as Sami Zayn receives his promised title opportunity after a nearly two-month wait.

Additionally, Ronda Rousey will be in attendance, as she expects to sign a contract for a tag team bout at Elimination Chamber when this recorded episode of WWE Smackdown airs on FOX from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Reigns and Goldberg on WWE Smackdown

Roman Reigns and Special Counsel Paul Heyman mocked the great Goldberg’s many awards before to their once-in-a-lifetime confrontation at the Chamber event. Additionally, the champion warned that he intends to “Goldberg” Goldberg in the future match.

The verbal attacks continued when Smackdown’s announcer, Michael Cole, met with Goldberg, who pledged to reclaim the Universal Title in the Spear vs. Spear battle and then confront his arch foe, Brock Lesnar, at WrestleMania 38. Both Reigns and Goldberg will now have one last chance on tonight’s Smackdown to make a statement before to the Spear vs. Spear match. As verified by WWE, these two will square off in a face-to-face encounter that is expected to culminate in a brawl.

Also, Reigns posted a taunt for his opponent on Twitter prior WWE Elimination Chamber. And Reigns looks ready.

“The In-Zayn Podcast”

Sami Zayn presented “The In-Zayn Podcast” last week in order to provoke his guests, Intercontinental champion Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs. This was a ploy as he electrified Boogs and the diversion enabled Zayn to finish Nakamura with a Helluva Kick.

Since winning the 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet match on the December 24 SmackDown edition, the Master Strategist has been the number one challenger to Nakamura. The championship shot was postponed after Nakamura’s hand injury during the WWE live event on December 18.

The King of Strong Styles was just allowed to return to action, and as a result, he has been pushed directly into a title defense against Zayn, who is expected to become the next champion in order to shake up the Smackdown mid-card scenario.

Naomi’s championship contest

Naomi tried to dethrone Charlotte Flair, the SmackDown Women’s Champion, in a championship contest. However, The Queen emerged triumphant during a grueling struggle, prompting WWE Official Sonya Deville to insult Naomi inside the ring.

Eventually, Naomi was subjected to a 2-on-1 onslaught until Ronda Rousey came to her rescue. After sending Flair scurrying from the ring to make a statement, The Baddest Woman on the Planet held Deville’s uninjured arm in a submission hold. The WWE announced shortly thereafter that Rousey and Naomi will face Flair and Deville in a tag team bout.

Now, all four superstars will be in the ring together for a contract signing sequence to officially announce the match when Smackdown airs the Elimination Chamber go-home edition.
