Naomi came to seek vengeance after being disqualified from the Royal Rumble last week, but she departed with a SmackDown Women’s Championship bout scheduled for next week. During the Royal Rumble bout, Naomi finally got her hands on WWE official Sonya Deville, tossing her as retribution for injuring her old partner, Cameron. Sonya would then grab Naomi off the apron, despite the fact that Naomi had already been eliminated from the Rumble.

Naomi went into the GMs’ office on SmackDown Friday, demanding that Deville to face her inside the ring in 5 minutes. When Sonya declined, Naomi offered a match the following week, which Deville again declined, but she was instead offered a championship match versus Charlotte Flair. The SmackDown Women’s Championship bout has been planned for next Friday night, according to Adam Pearce.

WWE SmackDown next week

It’s refreshing to see new matches on the blue brand that follow logical storytelling, especially since Naomi and Flair have only faced each other twice in the last four weeks, with Charlotte and Naomi winning both championship contenders’ matches, implying that Naomi has clearly earned this title opportunity.

Given that we discovered who Flair would face for the championship at WrestleMania 38 at the same program, this is almost certainly filler and angle progression for the existing Naomi/Deville storyline, but given enough time, it may at least be a respectable bout. It just destroys the point of the previous two contenders’ matches, which were held last month.

The SmackDown Women’s Championship will be defended by Charlotte Flair next week.

A rematch between Natalya and Aliyah will be featured in next week’s episode. Aliyah followed up her record-breaking triumph over Natalya with another victory on the February 4 program. She defeated the veteran via count-out this time. After the match, Natalya sought a rematch with Aliyah under Dungeon rules, which stipulate that the match must conclude in a pinfall or a submission.
