It all seemed to start well when Edge introduced Finn Balor as the newest member of The Judgment Day but it all turned sour when Balor, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley turned their back on Edge and attacked him viciously and effectively kicking him out of the group. It came as a shocker to all the fans inside the arena and to everyone watching at home. The man who helped start a dark faction was kicked out and was given no apparent reason by his former stable mates.

There are now reports emerging that this was the plan and it was done at the last minute thanks to Cody Rhodes’ injury. PWInsider has reported that Edge is reportedly undergoing an abrupt character change and has officially been moved to the babyface side of the internal roster. This opens up a lot of possibilities for the Rater-R Superstar moving forward. The fact that the report states that Edge is now a babyface should excite a lot of fans because after making his return in 2020, the fans don’t seem to boo him no matter what he does. So him being a heel wouldn’t make much sense. In this article, we will take a look at some of the ways in which Edge can feature moving forward.

Battle with the Demon King

Finn Balor has not brought out his Demon King persona for a while now and this may be the perfect opportunity to do just that. Even though Edge becomes a babyface, he can still have a dark side to his character and can start a feud with Finn Balor given it was Balor’s arrival into the fold that made Priest and Ripley turn on their former leader. The rivalry between the two will be epic as both men are good on the mic and their in-ring brilliance is unmatched. Add to that, it will be great to see the Demon King take on the Brood version of Edge.

Feud with John Cena

John Cena announced that he is making his long-awaited return to the WWE. This gives the perfect opportunity for Edge to have one final rivalry with probably his greatest ever rival. Cena and Edge had an epic rivalry in the latter part of the 2000s where they effectively carried the WWE on their backs. They had great match after great match and at one point, it became personal as Edge attacked John Cena’s father. If this idea does come to fruition, it will be exciting to see what the two men can conjure up this time around.

The Ultimate Opportunist

This is where things can get very interesting. We haven’t seen this side of Edge ever since he first retired but if he wants to have one final hurrah before hanging up his boots, then he should consider becoming what the wrestling world called the Ultimate Opportunist. That term became synonymous with Edge when he was at the top of his game. It was that same persona that helped him the World title, the WWE title and made him a household name alongside John Cena. It will surely work a treat if Edge as the Ultimate Opportunist goes on to win the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship from Roman Reigns.
