In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes recalled being so nervous before battling Big Show for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 28 that he tore up his hotel room in Miami, Florida. He made the following statements: (via WrestlingInc.com).

“I was probably the worst at letting all of this get to me. I remember I tore up a hotel room in Miami once when I was wrestling Big Show for the Intercontinental title [at WrestleMania 28]. I don’t know. It’s such an anxious, crazy, wild week filled with all kinds of stresses and just trying to get everything right.”

What happened with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 28?

Rhodes was the WWE Intercontinental Champion as he came into Sunlife Stadium as the third bout on the WrestleMania 28 schedule. Big Show eventually overcame him with a stunning blow to capture the mid-card title for the first time in his career. Incidentally, five months before WrestleMania 28, Rhodes’ brother Dustin stated his desire to confront his sibling in a championship vs. career match; they would finally clash at All Elite Wrestling’s first Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May 2019.

Rhodes made his WrestleMania debut in 2010 when he competed in a triple threat match alongside former Legacy members Randy Orton and Ted Dibiase Jr. Following the three-way match, the 37-year-old appeared on WWE’s greatest platform five more times, including a fight with Big Show for the Intercontinental Title, before leaving the organization in 2016. On the first night of WrestleMania 38, Rhodes made a stunning comeback to the organization, defeating Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

In the main event of WrestleMania 39 last Sunday, Rhodes was defeated by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. On RAW the next night, he challenged The Tribal Chief to a tag team bout. Then Brock Lesnar introduced himself to be Rhodes’ partner. Unfortunately, The Beast Incarnate savagely attacked The American Nightmare before the commencement of the fight. It will be intriguing to see where Cody Rhodes’ journey leads him.
