In a recent interview with “The Ten Count,” former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s much-anticipated return to the wrestling world.

Lashley reflected on the era when Punk was making his mark in WWE, admitting, “I really don’t know to be honest with you.” Having been on his way out of WWE around the time Punk was gaining momentum, Lashley highlighted that Punk’s impact during that period was somewhat subdued. Conversations with fellow wrestlers revealed a spectrum of opinions on Punk’s return – from opposition to indifferent shrugs. However, Lashley acknowledged the potential positive impact of Punk’s return, stating, “It’s a land of opportunity.”

Expressing a pragmatic viewpoint, Lashley emphasized the business aspect: “If he comes back and he helps out the show, that’s the business side of it.” Yet, he urged for Punk to earn his stripes and demonstrate loyalty, particularly to those skeptical of his return: “I hope they give him an opportunity to kind of prove his loyalty to the business and some of the people in there, just to let everybody know — some of the naysayers, some of the people that aren’t too happy about him being there.”

Bobby Lashley wants CM Punk to make his way to the top

Lashley advocated for Punk to earn his way back to the top, emphasizing merit over entitlement: “I hope he has this opportunity to work his way back up to the top and not just given everything because maybe he negotiated a contract to allow him to do that.”

Notably, Lashley and Punk have a shared history within the ring. Their paths crossed in the infamous ECW December to Dismember event in 2006, where they contested in the Extreme Elimination Chamber match for the ECW Championship. In a twist of fate, Lashley emerged victorious in that bout, securing the ECW title.

The reunion of these two wrestling stalwarts within the WWE ecosystem could potentially ignite new storylines and dynamics, setting the stage for an intriguing chapter in their wrestling careers.
