Goldust was probably one of the most intriguing characters in the history of the WWE. He was portrayed as a character who angered his opponents with his flirtatious comments and sexually charged affection toward them. He wore a golden jumpsuit, painted his face gold and black, and wore a platinum blonde wig on his head during his promos. He went on to have great feuds with the likes of Razor Ramon, Randy Orton and Rowdy Roddy Piper etc. Not only that but he also had success as a part of a tag team and won the gold on many occasions. He has been in the business since 1988 and has had a lot of rivals during his time. In this article, we will take a look at some of them.

Razor Ramon

Goldust’s feud with Razor Ramon was probably one of the best of his career. The two men took on each other for the Intercontinental title at the 1996 Royal Rumble and this was the time when Goldust’s career started to take off in the right direction. Vince McMahon thought that the timing was right to have Dusty Rhodes’ son win the IC title and to do so against an industry great like Razor Ramon must have been even sweeter. The fact that Ramon was planning to leave the WWE soon also helped to soften the blow of dropping the prestigious title.

Rowdy Roddy Piper

Goldust and Rowdy Roddy Piper crossed paths in what turned out to be one of the main attractions at WrestleMania 12. Their match was a Hollywood Backlot Brawl and it was end to end. Both men entered into a  very personal feud and that sort of animosity lead to the match being a great one. They used each and everything that they found and went at each other. Goldust had a tremendous performance stepping up against the legend, but Piper still secured the victory. This entire night of segments helped make Goldust a bigger star for WWE.

Randy Orton

Goldust returned to the company on a short deal but after his match against Randy Orton, WWE signed him to a full contract after seeing that he could still perform at the highest level. WWE found magic with a storyline of The Authority holding down Cody Rhodes and the Rhodes family in general. Following Cody’s firing from the company, Goldust made a return to face off with WWE Champion Randy Orton. The catch was that Cody would get his job back if Goldust could somehow defeat Orton. What ensued after was probably one of the best matches in the career of Goldust. It was an instant class as the crowd were heavily involved and loved every bit of it. Fans were with him until Orton won in the end. The impressive outing led to WWE signing Goldust to a contract that lasted almost six years.
