Beach volleyball which will take place from 30th July to 7th August will be present in the Commonwealth Games for only the second time.
Men’s silver medallists Canada defeated Sri Lanka 2-0, while the Gambia overcame St Kitts & Nevis by the same scoreline.
On Saturday, the gold medal winners in the women’s category, Canada, were in action. They began their medal defence with a 2-0 win over Ghana.
Hosts England got the better of Tuvalu 2-0, while Rwanda defeated fellow African side South Africa and New Zealand beat Cyprus.
Some of the biggest teams in the event will be participating in the day's play, which will also see the tournament hosts - England - in action.
A total of 12 men’s and women’s teams will participate in the beach volleyball competition that will take place from 30th July to 7th August.
On Saturday, Canada taking on Ghana will kick-start the women’s beach volleyball competition in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Beach volleyball begins from July 30th to August 7th, with knockout rounds commencing on August 5th and the finals on the 7th.
