In the women’s category of beach volleyball in the Commonwealth Games, the defending silver medallists and the hosts won their respective matches. These results will give them a lot of confidence to go long in the tournament. Apart from these results, there are also a lot of interesting matches awaiting the fans in the coming days. Six games will be played on Tuesday and four of those will be in the women’s categories. Beach volleyball which will take place from 30th July to 7th August will be present in the Commonwealth Games for only the second time after making its debut four years ago in Gold Coast, Australia.
The defending women’s silver medallist Australia overcame Sri Lanka 2-0 on Sunday before Vanuatu got the better of Scotland. Later England defeated the Solomon Islands 2-0, while Cyprus got past Trinidad & Tobago. There will be four women’s matches taking place on Tuesday, starting with Australia playing Trinidad & Tobago and Vanuatu facing the Solomon Islands. Later, neighbours England will take on Scotland, while Cyprus will be up against Sri Lanka.

A total of 12 men’s and women’s teams will participate in the beach volleyball competition that will take place from 30th July to 7th August. The men’s and women’s sections will each have three pools with four teams in them. The knockout matches start on the fifth of August with the quarterfinals, the next day will be the semifinals and the medal matches will happen on the seventh of August (Sunday). Each match is played with a best of three sets. The first two sets are played to 21 points, and the third set is played to 15 points. The first team to reach 21 points – or 15 points – with a two-point advantage wins the set.
