Men’s silver medallists Canada defeated Sri Lanka 2-0, while the Gambia overcame St Kitts & Nevis by the same scoreline.
The beach volleyball competition in the Commonwealth Games is halfway through its group phase with the fans witnessing some exciting matches unfold before them. With a lot of action still left, beach volleyball fans are in for a treat in the coming days. The defending silver medallists were in action on Sunday in both men’s and women’s categories. They won their respective matches, as they are marching strongly in this tournament. There are also many more interesting matches awaiting the fans, with six more games set to be played on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in the women’s categories, defending silver medallists Australia got the better of Sri Lanka 2-0. Besides, there will be two men’s matches and four women’s games taking place on Day 4 of the competition, Tuesday. Canada will face St Kitts & Nevis, while the Gambia will be up against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

A total of 12 men’s and women’s teams will participate in the beach volleyball competition that will take place from 30th July to 7th August. The men’s and women’s sections will each have three pools with four teams in them. The knockout matches start on the fifth of August with the quarterfinals, the next day will be the semifinals and the medal matches will happen on the seventh of August (Sunday). Each match is played with a best of three sets. The first two sets are played to 21 points, and the third set is played to 15 points. The first team to reach 21 points – or 15 points – with a two-point advantage wins the set.
