Day one of women’s beach volleyball in the Commonwealth Games 2022 will see four teams in action. The highly-anticipated tournament is set to kickstart soon, with beach volleyball occurring from July 30th to August 7th. The knockout rounds commence on August 5th and the finals – medal rounds – on the 7th of next month. On Saturday, there will be six beach volleyball matches, four of which will be between men’s teams and two between women’s teams. With the action inching ever closer, volleyball fans have every reason to get excited about it.
On Saturday, Canada facing Ghana will kick-start the women’s beach volleyball competition in the Commonwealth Games 2022. This clash will be followed by New Zealand taking on an African side Kenya. The Canadians are the defending champions in this tournament after the women’s side defeated then hosts Australia in the final four years ago in Gold Coast. Meanwhile, the bronze medal was clinched by Vanuatu back then. Coming into this tournament as the reigning gold medal winner, most eyes on day one will be on the Canadian side.

A total of 12 men’s and women’s teams will participate in the beach volleyball competition that will take place from 30th July to 7th August. The men’s and women’s sections will each have three pools with four teams in them. The knockout matches start on the fifth of August with the quarterfinals, the next day will be the semifinals and the medal matches will happen on the seventh of August (Sunday). Each match is played with a best of three sets. The first two sets are played to 21 points, and the third set is played to 15 points. The first team to reach 21 points – or 15 points – with a two-point advantage wins the set.
