Although they struggled away from home in their last season, Olimpija only needs a draw to secure their spot in the Champions League second qualifying round. This is their fifth time participating in the qualifiers, with their first appearance dating back to the 1992-93 season when they were eliminated by AC Milan. Olimpija reached the second round only once in 2016-17, losing narrowly to Trencin on away goals.
