After three successive wins over Granada CF, Cadiz and Alaves last month, Real Sociedad were forced to share the spoils in their last two outings against the likes of bottom-placed Almeria and mid-table side Getafe. On Sunday, White-Blue shared the points with Azulones at Coliseum despite taking the lead through Ander Barrenetxea’s 13th-minute opener. Although the result extended their unbeaten run to five games, Imanol Alguacil’s side allowed Betis to close the gap to just three points. Meanwhile, the Basque outfit haven’t been great at home this term, winning only six of their 15 La Liga games at Anoeta, while collecting just 24 points in the process.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, boast the best home and away record in the Spanish top division this season. Los Blancos have won 11 of their 16 away games in the league so far, while losing only once on the road. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are heading into the match on the back of a thrilling come-from-behind 3-2 win over defending champions Barcelona on Sunday. Two equalisers from Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez and Jude Bellingham’s 91st-minute winner helped Real Madrid secure all three points versus Blaugrana and move 11 points clear at the summit. It was their 25th league-win of the season and Los Blancos have now extended their unbeaten run to 17 games in all competitions.
