Leicester put five goals past fourth-placed Southampton on April 23 thanks to Abdul Fatawu’s hat-trick and one effort each from Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy. It was their 30th Championship-win of the season and the result helped the Foxes to secure promotion to the Premier League. Enzo Maresca’s side are just one win away from securing the Championship title as third-placed Ipswich Town are four points adrift with two games remaining to play. Meanwhile, Leicester boast the best away-record in the league this term, having won 13 of their 22 games, while collecting 42 points in the process.
Preston on the other hand, have recorded 18 wins, nine draws and 17 defeats from 44 Championship games this season and their last success came against Huddersfield Town earlier this month. However, after that, the Invincibles lost their next three outings against the likes of Norwich City, Southampton and QPR with an overall score of 5-0. The poor run of form has ended their playoff hopes and an eighth place finish is the best Ryan Lowe’s side can now aim for.
