In this transfer window so far, Tottenham Hotspur reportedly rejected Bayern Munich’s €70 million plus add-ons offer for striker Harry Kane. The 29-year-old England captain has one year left on his Tottenham contract. Bayern, led by former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel, is actively pursuing a new forward this summer, with Kane being a top priority.
AC Milan has confirmed the signing of Marco Sportiello as their new goalkeeper. Sportiello, 29, has signed a contract until June 2027 and will serve as backup to Mike Maignan. He began his career at Atalanta’s youth system and has played for various clubs before returning to Atalanta, making 88 appearances from 2013 to 2017. After stints at Fiorentina and Frosinone, Sportiello returned to Atalanta for the 2019-20 season, accumulating 136 appearances before seeking a new adventure.
Manchester City has reportedly withdrawn from the race to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice, giving Arsenal an advantage. Arsenal has reportedly made a record-breaking third bid of £105 million for the midfielder, while Manchester City is not willing to match their progress.
Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly agreed on a transfer deal for Mason Mount worth up to £60 million ($75.7 million). United initially had a £55 million bid rejected but improved their offer to £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Mount has been given permission to undergo a medical and finalize personal terms. The clubs are in the process of completing the necessary paperwork. Mount will sign a contract until 2028 with a potential one-year extension. Talks between the clubs resumed, resulting in a positive outcome for all parties involved.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Federico Valverde has received a boost as Real Madrid is reportedly open to accepting a €90 million offer for the Uruguayan midfielder. The Reds have been interested in the 24-year-old for some time but were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign him last year when he was considered indispensable. However, Real Madrid is now more willing to let him go, possibly due to the arrival of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. While Valverde has been a regular under Ancelotti in recent seasons, his playing time could be impacted in the upcoming campaign. Real Madrid’s willingness to sell Valverde may be connected to their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe for a blockbuster move this summer.
Chelsea is in advanced talks to sign Santos winger Angelo Gabriel in a deal worth reportedly £15 million. The 18-year-old Brazilian talent, highly regarded in his country, is expected to join Stamford Bridge soon. Angelo made his debut for Santos at 16 and became the youngest goalscorer in Copa Libertadores history in 2021. However, his record has since been surpassed. Despite already having played 129 senior matches and representing Brazil at the under-20 level, Angelo has faced limited playing time and form issues this season. It is yet to be determined whether he will join Chelsea’s first team, under-21 squad, or the affiliated club Strasbourg.
