Blackburn Rovers will play host to Ipswich Town in an EFL Championship fixture at Ewood Park on Friday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a goalless draw away to Middlesbrough just before the international break, while the Tractor Boys thrashed Sheffield Wednesday 6-0 last time out. The victory helped the visitors to take their points tally to 81 from 38 games and they are currently occupying third spot in the English second tier table, just a solitary point adrift of leaders Leeds United. The Riversiders, on the other hand, are languishing at the 17th spot in the table, with 42 points to their name from 38 league matches, just three clear of the relegation zone.

Blackburn Rovers have recorded 11 wins, nine draws and 18 defeats from 38 Championship games so far, and their last victory came against Stoke City back in February. After that, the Riversiders went on a nine game winless run across all competitions, recording six draws in the process. Following back-to-back 1-1 draws with Plymouth Argyle and Millwall, John Eustace’s side played out a cagey 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on March 16. Meanwhile, the reverse fixture with versus Ipswich at Portman Road in September last year produced a seven-goal thriller which ended 4-3 in favour of the Tractor Boys with Massimo Luongo scoring the winner ten minutes from time.
After a four-game winless run in all competitions towards the end of January and early February, Ipswich have been brilliant to say the least, recording seven wins and one defeat from their last eight outings in the Championship. The Tractor Boys saw their six-game winning run come end with a 2-1 loss at Cardiff City earlier this month. However, Kieran McKenna’s men quickly bounced back by putting six goals past Sheffield Wednesday without reply on March 16 thanks to Omari Hutchinson, Cameron Burgess, Nathan Broadhead and Ali Al-Hamadi. It was their 24th league-win of the campaign. Should results on Good Friday go their way, Ipswich could be spending the Easter weekend at the summit of the Championship table, as they are just a solitary points adrift of the top two.
