The Premier League’s difficulty level is such that several players struggle to even survive in the league for long. The fast-paced physical game is not for everyone. The matches take plenty of toll from a player’s body, as it becomes difficult for some to maintain that standard on a consistent basis. Besides, the game is played at such a quick pace, there is not enough time for a player to settle in. They have to hit the ground running straight away.

Despite all the difficulties associated with the league, some players still manage to thrive under the pressure. It is these players who get their names engraved in the history books. While goal scorers get most of the credit, the contribution made by goal creators cannot be underestimated. Without the assistance from their teammates, a striker will not be able to put the ball in the back of the net. Hence, let us look at the top three assist providers in the Premier League era.

Ryan Giggs (162 assists)

The former Manchester United winger-turned-midfielder has had a stellar career at Old Trafford. He had been one of the trusted lieutenants under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Ryan Giggs has operated as a wide player for most of his career when he has registered several memorable goals and assists that are still talked about highly by Man United supporters. In the latter part of his career, Sir Alex converted Giggs into a central midfielder. To his credit, the Welshman also excelled in that role being the main creative outlet for the side. Overall, Ryan Giggs has provided 162 Premier League assists.

Cesc Fabregas (111 assists)

Second in the list is Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. He is capable of making the beautiful game look even prettier. His one-touch passing and vision in the final third of the pitch is a treat to the eyes. There is not a pass that Fabregas was not able to make. Both in ground and air, he is capable of splitting the opposition defence open with his exquisite passing range. His understanding on the pitch helped his teammates massively to make runs in between the lines or behind the opposition defence. Fabregas made a name for himself at Arsenal but also played for Chelsea later in his career. He has 111 assists in the Premier League to his name.

Wayne Rooney (103 assists)

Next up on the list is another former Manchester United legend. Wayne Rooney has played for Everton in different spells but he made a name of himself at Old Trafford. Having spent the majority of his career at the Red Devils, Rooney was a prolific goal scorer. However, the one thing he was not given enough credit for was his ability to create chances for his teammates. Being a versatile player, Rooney played as a No.10 many times for the Red Devils. This role has helped him create plenty of goal scoring opportunities for the forwards. In total, the former English striker has 103 assists to his name in the Premier League.
