Rayo Vallecano will be looking to extend their six game unbeaten run in the La Liga when they play host to Real Sociedad at Esdaio de Vallecas on Sunday. Both sides secured 1-0 wins in their last outings, with the hosts getting the better of Las Palmas in the league last weekend, while La Real secured a Champions League win at Benfica in the mid-week. Los Franjirrojos are currently occupying sixth spot in the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 16 points from their first ten league games, while the visitors are fifth with 18 points to their name from their opening ten top flight matches of the season.

Since suffering a humiliating 7-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid towards the end of August and then losing 1-0 to Real Betis few days later, Rayo have not tasted defeat in their last six outings, recording two wins in the period. Los Franjirrojos registered four successive draws against the likes of Villareal, Cadiz, Mallorca and Sevilla either in between the wins over Alaves and Las Palmas. Last Sunday, Rayito secured their fourth top flight victory of the campaign away to Las Palmas thanks to Bebe’s lone goal two minutes into the injury time. Rayo have finished 12th and 11th in the last two editions of the La Liga following their promotion back to the top tier, and they certainly look capable of pushing higher at the end of this term.
Real Sociedad, on the other hand, also enter the contest in strong form, winning six of their last seven games in all competitions. Their latest success came against Benfica in Portugal on Wednesday thanks to Brian Mendez’s lone goal in the second half. The Basque outfit are sitting at the summit of their European table, having collected seven points from their first three Group D games. Meanwhile, Imanol Alguacil’s men are also doing pretty well in the La Liga, having won five and drawn three of their first ten league games so far. Their latest top flight success against Mallorca last weekend courtesy of Mendez’s 64th-minute effort. La Real will be looking to secure all three points against Rayo on Sunday, as they have some huge games coming up, namely back-to-back fixtures against Barcelona and Benfica in the league and Champions League at the start of November.
