Liverpool began their 2022-23 Champions League campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Napoli on September 7, before getting the better of Ajax 2-1, six days later. Against the Dutch outfit, Mohammed Salah’s opener was canceled out by Mohammed Kudus, but Joel Matip’s last-ditch winner helped the Reds take all three points at home. Meanwhile Jurgen Klopp’s side also haven’t made a great start to their Premier League season, having won just two of their opening seven games to be sitting at the ninth position in the standings. Last time out, Leandro Trossard’s early brace put the Seagulls in front before Roberto Firmino’s double leveled the score for Liverpool. Although Adam Webster’s own goal gave the lead to the Reds, Trossard’s third goal of the night, seven minutes from time, helped Brighton earn a point at Anfield.
Rangers, on the other hand, have made an impressive start to their league campaign, having won six of their opening eight games to be sitting at the second spot in the Scottish top flight standings. The Gers’ only league defeat came against leaders Celtic, early in September. Meanwhile, in their last outing against Hearts on Saturday, Antonio Colak netted a brace, while Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent scored one goal each to secure all three points for Rangers. However, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have lost both their Champions League games this term, against Ajax (4-0) and Napoli (3-0).
