Jamaica took an early lead versus USA in the semi-final clash on Thursday thanks to Greg Leigh’s effort inside the opening minute. The Reggae Boyz were moments away from an upset in the Nations League before a stroke of bad luck changed everything. An own-goal from Cory Burke off an American corner in the 96th-minute leveled the scores and forced the game into the extra time. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side fell apart if the extra 30 minutes of play, conceding twice courtesy of Haji Wright’s brace. Nevertheless, the Jamaicans still have something to play for this weekend, as they have never finished at the podium in this competition.
Panama, on the other hand, saw their six-game winning run come to an end versus Mexico on Thursday. The Canal Men conceded three times through one effort each from Edson Alvarez, Julian Quinones and Orbelin Pineda. The result also ended their nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions, with their last loss coming against the same opponents in the final of the Gold Cup back in July 2023. Nevertheless, Panama will fancy their chances of walking away with a medal, having not lost to a Caribbean nation since the 1-0 defeat to Jamaica at the 2019 Gold Cup.
Panama probable starting lineup: Blake, Bernard, Hector, D. Lowe, Lembikisa, Johnson, Decordova-Reid, Leigh, Dixon, Williams, Cephas
Jamaica probable starting lineup: Mosquera, Escobar, Anderson, Andrade, Blackman, Martinez, Carrasquilla, Lenis, Fajardo, Waterman, Rodriguez
