Spain and Colombia will face each other in an international friendly at London Stadium on Friday night. La Roja are getting ready for the European Championship in Germany in the summer, while Los Cafeteros are working towards the 2024 Copa America, which kicks off towards the end of June in USA. Meanwhile, these two sides are set to meet for the first time since the thrilling 2-2 draw in a friendly back in 2017. Spanish attackers David Silva and Alvaro Morata netted either side of efforts from Edwin Cardona and Radamel Falcao.

Spain had an impressive Euro 2024 qualification campaign, winning seven of their eight matches to collect 21 points, and thereby winning Group A, four points clear of second-placed Scotland and 11 clear of Norway in third. La Roja secured a comprehensive 3-1 victory in their last qualification fixture back in November last year thanks to Robin Le Normand’s fourth-minute opener, Ferran Torres’ effort ten minutes into the second-half and Luka Lochoshvili’s own goal 18 minutes from time. The result extended their wining run to eight games across all competitions, scoring 25 goals and keeping four clean sheets in the process. Although the Red Fury were knocked out in the last-16 stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, they had an impressive run in the Euro 2020, reaching the semifinals, where they lost out to eventual champions Italy on penalties.

Colombia, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, but CONMEBOL have made a fine start to the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification, unbeaten in six outings, recording three wins and as many draws. La Tricolor’s last two matches have been friendlies back in December 2023, defeating the likes of Venezuela (1-0) and Mexico (3-2). Nestor Lorenzo’s side are heading into the match on the back of four successive wins, scoring seven goals and keeping three clean sheets in the period. Moreover, the 2001 South American champions are unbeaten in their last 19 outings in all competitions.
