Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United will continue their preparations for the 2023-24 Premier League season as they meet at Red Bull Arena in a pre-season friendly on Friday night. Brighton are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday while the Magpies played out a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Both sides had impressive English top flight campaigns last term, with the Seagulls securing a European qualification for the first time in their history, while Newcastle claimed a top four finish and thereby will compete in the upcoming UEFA champions League.

Brighton started their preparations for the 2023-24 season with a 4-3 defeat to Chelsea last weekend, before getting the better of Brentford in the mid-week. Simon Adingra’s brace helped the Seagulls secure their first pre-season victory of the summer and they will be looking to build on that success when they meet the Magpies on Friday. After the game against Eddie Howe’s men, Brighton will fly back to England where they will host Ray Vallecano at Falmer Stadium in their final friendly of the summer, before beginning their new Premier League campaign at home to newly promoted Luton Town on August 12.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have played four friendlies this summer, starting with back-to-back wins against Gateshead and Rangers in the UK, before traveling to the United States, where Howe’s men shared the spoils against Aston Villa and Chelsea in the Premier League Summer Series. The Magpies came from behind to earn a point against the Blues at Mercedes Benz Arena on Wednesday night thanks to Miguel Almiron’s equalsier on the stroke of half-time. Newcastle are gearing up for their first Champions League season since 2004 and will be hoping to put their best foot forward on their return to the continental stage. Meanwhile, the Magpies have three more friendlies lined up against the likes of Brighton, Fiorentina and Villarreal before kicking off their 2023-24 English top flight season at home to Aston Villa on August 12.
