Real Betis will play Burnley in a pre-season friendly at Nuevo Colombino on Friday. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of victories with Betis edging past Middlesbrough 1-0 at the weekend, while the Clarets defeated Benfica 2-0 on Wednesday. The Spanish outfit had an impressive La Liga season last term, securing sixth-place finish to qualify for the upcoming Europa League campaign. Vincent Kompany’s side, meanwhile, won the 2022-23 Championship title courtesy of collecting 101 points from 46 games and are preparing for the 2023-24 Premier League season.

Real Betis began their pre-season with back-to-back 3-1 defeats against the likes of Braunschweig and Monaco. However Manuel Pellegrini’s side secured their first win of this summer against Championship side Middlesbrough at the weekend thanks to Ayoze Perez’s lone goal in the second half at Technique Stadium. Los Verdiblancos look to build on that success when they face newly-promoted Burnley side on Friday. Meanwhile the Spanish club have made quiet a number of summer signings this time around, bringing in the likes of Hector Bellerin, Perez, Marc Bartra and Alex Collado on free transfers, while former Real Madrid attacker Isco is the latest one to arrive at Benito Villamarin for an undisclosed fee.
Burnley, on the other hand, have been involved in just two friendlies this summer, losing the first one 2-0 against Genk at the weekend, while getting the better of Portuguese champions Benfica with an identical scoreline on Wednesday. Second-half goals from Owen Dodgson and Hjalmar Ekdal helped the Clarets shock the Eagles in Lisbon. After the game against the Green and Whites, Kompany’s men will play one more friendly against Mainz on August 5 before beginning their 2023-24 Premier League season against defending champions Manchester City on August 12. Meanwhile, the club has already made eight signings this summer, with the likes of Zeki Amdouni and James Trafford the latest to join the Premier League club on a permanent deal.
