Norwich City will be looking to strengthen their hold on the Championship playoff spot when they play host to Bristol City on Saturday. The hosts are currently occupying sixth position, the final playoff spot, in the second tier table, having collected 71 points from 43 games, six clear of seventh-placed Hull City who have a game in hand. The Robins, on the other hand, are sitting at the 12th place, with 58 points to their name from 43 league matches. The Canaries are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win away to Preston North End at the weekend, while the visitors played out a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town last time out.

Norwich have been brilliant in 2024, losing only three of their 18 Championship games, while recording 11 wins in the period. After losing 3-1 to title-challengers Leicester City at the start of this month, the Canaries edged past leaders Ipswich Town 1-0 on April 6, before sharing the spoils with relegation threatened Sheffield Wednesday four days later. On Saturday, David Wagner’s side secured all three points versus Preston at Deepdale thanks to Gabriel Sara’s lone goal four minutes from time. It was their 21st second tier victory of the season. Meanwhile, Norwich’s home-form has been brilliant in the last couple of months, winning each of their last eight games at Carrow road, scoring 21 goals and keeping four clean sheets in the process.

Bristol City, on the other hand, are heading into the match on the back of a five-game unbeaten run in the division. After thrashing Blackburn Rovers 5-0 on April 10, the Robins had to dig deep to earn a point versus Huddersfield on Saturday. The Terriers broke the deadlock through Josh Koroma’s 81st-minute opener and just when it looked like Liam Manning’s side would suffer their 18th league-defeat of the season, Nahki Wells netted a dramatic equaliser from the penalty spot 11 minutes into the injury time. The East Anglian outfit have now collected 11 points from their last five outings, also keeping four clean sheets along the way. Since Manning’s side are already assured of atleast one more Championship season, they will be bidding to challenge for a top ten finish with three league games remaining.
