The third leg of the Diamond League 2023 is all set to take place on June 2, 2023, with the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Florence, Italy. The Florence Diamond League 2023 will headline many top athletes from all over the world, who will showcase their skills in order to claim the Diamond League trophy. There will be 15 events in this leg that will be offering points to the athletes – eight for women and seven for men. Florence marked its inaugural appearance in the Diamond League impressively two years back in 2021. For the second time, the iconic Tuscan city is preparing to host the celebrated Pietro Mennea Golden Gala once more in 2023.

Adopting a fresh format since 2017, the Diamond League has implemented a scoring system where the top eight performers at each event earn points on a descending scale from 8 to 1. These points, however, act as a way to determine which athletes will qualify for the respective discipline finals. Athletes winning the finals earn the prestigious title of World Athletics Diamond League Champions. The Diamond League is one of the most prestigious meetings of the World Athletics, the governing body for the sport of Athletics in the world.
