According to TMZ, WWE Superstar Sonya Deville was arrested in New Jersey last month after officials discovered a gun in her possession. The 29-year-old wrestler did not have a New Jersey permit for the firearm seized in her vehicle. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the incident occurred on February 19 in Atlantic City. According to the media source, a valet noticed the gun in Deville’s car’s glove box and alerted the authorities.

Sonya Deville was detained by authorities on February 19, shortly after the valet made the call. The WWE SmackDown wrestler has apparently been charged with one count of unauthorized firearm possession, i.e. possessing a gun without a license. According to sources close to Sonya, whose true name is Daria Rae Berenato, she retained the gun for personal protection when a 24-year-old guy stormed into her Florida home and reportedly attempted to abduct her in 2020. According to reports, the gun is registered in Florida but not in New Jersey.

A fan tried to kidnap Sonya Deville

Sonya Deville was allegedly the victim of an attempted abduction at her Florida home in August 2020. Authorities stopped the kidnapping by apprehending a 24-year-old suspect who they described as an infatuated admirer. He was discovered with zip ties, a knife, and duct tape. According to officials, the suspect, Philip A Thomas, had been plotting the kidnapping for eight months.

According to the TMZ allegation, Thomas strolled to Deville’s residence after parking his car outside a local church. He then removed a section of the patio screen and waited for several hours before breaking into Sonya Deville’s home at about 2:45 a.m. His arrival triggered an alarm, at which point Deville fled her residence with another individual and dialed 911.

Deville will appear in court later this month for a hearing on her recent arrest in the unregistered firearms case.
