WWE news: Triple H announces retirement, brings down the curtain on a glorious career

WWE legend Triple H, AKA Paul Levesque has revealed that his time as an in-ring performer is done and announced his retirement yesterday. ‘The Game’ as he is fondly known suffered a cardiac problem last year and admitted that the reason for his decision was because the cardiac problem was life-threatening.

Paul Levesque who is 52 years old said that had pneumonia, which filled up his lungs with fluid. Speaking on Stephen A’s world on ESPN, Triple H said, that his heart ejection fraction had dropped to 22 per cent when a normal heart operates at 55-60 per cent. “By the time I got to the emergency room, my ejection fraction had gone down to 22,” Triple H told Stephen A. Smith.

“Which, I was in heart failure. Bad. By the next morning, as they figured that out that evening, by the next morning as they got the MRI done and they were sending me in for a heart scan. My ejection fraction was down to 12. So, I was nosediving and sort of at the one-yard line of where you want to be, or where you don’t want to be, really, for your family and your future.”

Triple H will never wrestle again

When asked about his future, he straightforward said, “I won’t, I would never wrestle again. First, I have a defibrillator in my chest. Which, it’s probably not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.”

This means that Triple H’s last match on television was against Randy Orton at the 2019 WWE Super ShowDown event in Saudi Arabia.

A 14-time world champion, Triple H started his wrestling career back in 1992. He wrestler for WCW for two years before joining WWE as Hunter Hearst Helmsley. In 1997, he along with Shawn Michaels started the much loved and infamous faction known as D-Generation X.

In 2011, he began performing as a part-time wrestler after taking up the role of executive vice-president of the company. He is the executive producer of the NXT brand and is responsible for the show gaining tremendous recognition.
