In the last portion of Friday’s concert, Sami Zayn returned to Montreal to a standing ovation as thunderous as any in recent memory. Fans greeted him with cries of “OLE!” in tribute to his El Generico persona, then changed to chants of “Sami!”

He remained in the center of the ring for many minutes, taking in the moment as supporters showered him with a loud display of thanks and affection. When he finally spoke, he announced that Roman Reigns will face Sami Zayn and the whole city of Montreal at Elimination Chamber tomorrow night. It was brief, sweet, and absolutely fantastic.

Some spoilers before Roman Reigns vs Sami Zayn

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer writes that WWE’s initial plan was for Sami Zayn to lose, Jey Uso to flip on him, and then Zayn and Kevin Owens would challenge the Usos for the tag team titles at WrestleMania.

It doesn’t mean the plans have altered, but it does mean Paul Levesque (Triple H) must decide whether to remain with the original concept or to accommodate fans’ current desires. Meltzer predicts that if Zayn wins at Elimination Chamber, it will be a “late deviation from the script”.

But, this is Levesque’s first time in this circumstance, so we’ll have to wait and see if he supports the original intentions over what people desire right now. Meltzer notes, however, that Zayn has shown to be “an actual numbers mover,” making him a more appealing possibility than Bryan and Kingston were when they were slotted in.

Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and watch, but if Levesque follows his initial idea, Zayn will lose and Jey Uso will flip on him this weekend. Meltzer stated that both Usos can enter Canada and that the suggestion on SmackDown last week that they couldn’t was merely to make fans believe they couldn’t so that it would be more surprising if they did.
