Triple H is now WWE’s Creative Head and one of the company’s biggest names. But before all this, he also had his share of real fights. But “The Game” has always been one of the best guys to know a person’s talent. So, when Triple H joined WWE in 1995 after a brief run in WCW. He became good friends with Shawn Michaels over the following few years. They created the D-Generation X stable. However, the two fell out after HBK had a back injury that caused him to retire from ring activity in 1998.

When Shawn Michaels was out due to his injury he started using drugs. When a wasted HBK went to a WWE show, he had an actual backstage brawl with The Game in full view of the locker room. Triple H discussed the event on DX’s Biography episode.

“After he takes his time off, just intermittent in and out of Shawn, but he’s still a mess. We were nowhere near as close as we were before. There comes a moment where it’s getting worse and worse and it’s the night that Vince buys WCW. We all go into an office to watch this go down. Just as it’s about to happen, in walks Shawn, who is just a mess, it’s just embarrassing. Everybody else goes to Vince, ’embarrassing, he shouldn’t be here.’ Shawn comes out of that conversation and in front of everybody in that locker room, we went at it,” he said.

After their fight, HBK and The Game didn’t speak for over a year. They rekindled their relationship after Michaels contacted Triple H and apologized. Stephanie McMahon also once mistook Triple H and Shawn Michaels for a real-life pair.

Shawn Michaels discusses his relationship with Triple H

Shawn Michaels, a former four-time WWE World champion, recently spoke on the Culture State podcast about his real-life closest buddy Triple H and his professional relationship with him. He said;

“From a weekly television standpoint, what we do on ‘NXT’ is more or less my ballpark,” Michaels said, clarifying that Levesque still has a heavy hand in WWE’s recruiting process but that he isn’t making decisions for individual shows. “Hunter always checks in and knows who the people are.

“He obviously watches the show, he sees the people that appear to have promise in his sight and in ours as well. I think he takes a mental note of who he sees and what he sees in them, and I’m sure he makes his crew aware of it as well. And then whenever those times come when they feel like they’re ready for a call-up or they see a need that they might have, that’s when they would give us a call.”

Forming the legendary faction D-Generation X

In 1997, they established the famed WWE faction D Generation X and this was the first time Triple H and Michaels worked as a team in front of wrestling fans. Michaels was the stable’s first leader since he had been the WWE World champion for the longest time.

However, after losing the WWE World Championship to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XIV, Michaels was out of action for a lengthy period. Triple H went on to become one of WWE’s top performers at the time. They began working together again in 2002. But only as adversaries, of course, in kayfabe.

They reassembled D Generation X in 2006, and they achieved the pinnacle of success once more. Right present, WWE’s Head of Creative is Triple H, while Shawn Michaels is the Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative. Their friendship is still continuing extremely strong.
