As Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns has hit a lot of important points, but now the Tribal Chief has a bad title. Reigns has held the Universal Championship since August of that year when he won Payback 2020. At WrestleMania 38, he combined the gold with the WWE Championship to make it one title.
Reigns’ last title defense was at WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes. That means it has been 100 days since Reigns’ last title defense on TV. In the past, WWE had an unwritten rule that all winners had to protect their titles once every 30 days. In recent years, this rule has been followed less and less.
Reigns will be back on WWE TV next week on SmackDown. At Summerslam, where the title will be on the line, he is likely to meet Jey Uso. Reigns has been WWE Universal Champion for 1,049 days as of today.
On Friday’s episode of SmackDown, it was announced that Roman Reigns and Jey Uso will face off on the next episode of the show, which will air on FS1. At this much-anticipated meeting, the two will talk about the “rules of engagement.” After Reigns’s brutal attack on Jimmy Uso, which sent him to the hospital, the two men are now fighting. At the end of the last SmackDown, Jey Uso challenged Roman Reigns to a match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
During Jey Uso’s speech on this week’s SmackDown, Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa got in the way. Heyman said that Uso shouldn’t be Reigns’ right-hand man and that what happened to Jimmy was Uso’s fault. The argument got hot and turned into a fight. Jey hit Sikoa with a number of steel chair shots, which finally got him to leave the scene.
