It was a perfect debut for Juventus signings Dusan Vlahovic and Denis Zakaria, as both got on the score-sheet in a 2-0 Serie A win over Verona in Turin on Sunday. The victory helped Juve to fourth place in the league standings. The Bianconeri took an early lead through Vlahovic before Zakaria doubled the lead just after the hour-mark. Manuel Locatelli was suspended, with Federico Bernardeschi, Alex Sandro and Federico Chiesa sidelined with injuries. Meanwhile Juan Cuadrado and Leonardo Bonucci were not 100 percent fit.

Juve started the match brightly as Vlahovic, who had joined the club from Fiorentina for a Serie A record fee of EUR 75 million tested Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo from outside the box, inside the opening six minutes.

The goal did arrive in the 13th minute. Paulo Dybala played a perfect overhead ball to release Vlahovic on goal. The Serbian striker drove forward before lifting the ball over an advancing Montipo to put Juve in front.

Vlahovic was then inches away from scoring a second with his cushioned finish off his right foot on an Alvaro Morata cross. Verona had the majority of ball possession and stepped up the pressure in the second half.

Kevin Lasagna forced a save from Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny at the near post before the Polish custodian pushed away a Darko Lazovic cross. Just as Verona were taking control of the game, Juve scored their second of the night from a classic counter-attack.

Morata used his body to good effect to get past his marksman in the midfield and then dribbled  forward before setting up Zakaria to slot home past Montipo from inside the box. The Swiss midfielder had joined the Italian club from Borussia Monchengladbach in the winter transfer window.

Dybala tested Montipo at the neat post from Danilo’s back-heel before Adrien Rabiot’s long-range effort was kept out by Montipo’s diving save. Meanwhile at the other end, Szczesny pushed another Lazovic’s cross away.
