AC Milan take on Sassuolo on the final match-day of the season aiming to clinch their first Serie A title in 11 years. The Rossoneri need to secure a better result that second-placed Inter Milan, who will play Sampdoria on the same day, to secure the Scudetto but Sassuolo have been a nightmare for them in recent years. Stefano Pioli’s side are two points clear of holders Inter Milan at the top of the table. Milan head into the clash at Mapei Stadium on the back of a 2-0 win over Atalanta last week while Sassuolo beat Bologna 3-1. That said, Milan’s form in Serie A this season has seen them withstand most tests they have faced and Sunday is unlikely to be any different.Â

The Rossoneri overcame Atalanta last term courtesy of goals from Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez. Pioli’s side has been in stunning form, having won their last five league games. They have had multiple goal scorers from different parts of the field. Leao has been their top goal scorer in the league this season with 11 scalps to his name while veterans Olivier Giroud (9) and Zalatan Ibrahimovic (8) have made decent contributions.
Other than these three, full-back Hernandez, midfielders Sandro Tonali and Franck Kessie have netted five times each. Leao has been in red hot form having scored three goals and provided as many assists in his last five league appearances. The Portuguese winger will be once again the player to watch out for in Sunday’s game.Â

On the other hand, Sassuolo are not in great form having won just one of their last five games. Last week, the Neroverdi secured all three points at bologna courtesy of a brace by Gianluca Scamacca and a late goal by Domenico Berardi. The Watermelon Peel are playing for a top-half finish and could potentially finish anywhere between ninth and 11th in the final Serie A table. Sassuolo have just one clean sheet from their last 11 games, but have only been kept out themselves once in the same period.
Sassuolo have Jeremy Toljan, Filippo Romogna, Abdou Harroui and Pedro Obiang out with injuries. Meanwhile Giorgos Kyriakopoulos returns from a three-game suspension and could slot in his usual left-back spot once again.
As for AC Milan, Simon Kjaer is the only notable absentee. Pioli is likely to deploy that same starting eleven that got the job done against Atalanta. This could also be Kessie’s last match in Milan colours, since his contract expires at the end of the season, and he is set to join Barcelona.Â
The Serie A fixture between Sassuolo and AC Milan will take place at Mapei Stadium and it will kick off at 9:30 pm IST on Sunday, May 17.
