The Indian cricket team and the players are now gearing up for IPL 2022 after the end of the Sri Lanka series. It was a dominant home summer for India, having not lost a single match in the entire leg. They beat New Zealand 3-0 and 1-0 in the T20Is and Tests. They whitewashed the West Indies and Sri Lanka in both ODIs, T20Is and Tests. Now, the IPL is less than two weeks away.

However, for Mumbai Indians, there might be a problem when it comes to the availability of Suryakumar Yadav. The Mumbai batter, who sustained an injury in the Twenty20 series against the West Indies in Kolkata, missed the entire series against Sri Lanka. Now, there is a doubt that Suryakumar Yadav might not be available for the first couple of games for Mumbai Indians. Currently, Suryakumar is at the NCA and undergoing rehabilitation.

“Surya is currently at the NCA doing his rehabilitation. He is well on his way to recovery. But there is a possibility that his participation in the opening game will be a real touch-and-go affair. So there could be a possibility that he might be advised by the board’s medical team to not risk playing the opener. I think by the second MI game, he would be 100 percent match fit. It is likely to be more of a precautionary measure if he doesn’t play the first game,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.

Mumbai Indians Gear Up to Overcome IPL 2021 Disappointment

Mumbai Indians made some good buys in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. After retaining Suryakumar, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kieron Pollard, Mumbai Indians bought Ishan Kishan for Rs 15.25 Crore in the Mega Auction. Kishan remained the highest buy in the IPL Auction. Apart from Kishan, they bought Jofra Archer for Rs 8 crore and he will partner with Bumrah. However, it is unclear whether Archer will feature in IPL 2022 as he recovers from an elbow injury. But, according to the latest reports, he has been recovering and is bowling full tilt.

Recently, Bumrah was in fine form in the series against Sri Lanka. He secured his eighth five-wicket haul in just his 29th Test. With Rohit ensuring that he remains unbeaten, Mumbai Indians will now gear up to overcome their disappointment in IPL 2021.
