Gujarat Titans have registered a convincing win over Rajasthan Royals in the final of the IPL where David Miller played a key role.
Gujarat Titans have registered a convincing win over Rajasthan Royals in the final of the recently-concluded Indian Premier League and won the title in their debut season as well. However, veteran batter David Miller played a key role for the side throughout the season. And, he recently shared his memories of the IPL 2022 season. He stated that he has one of his most memorable stints in the Indian Premier League with the Titans as well. Notably, he has scored 481 runs in 16 matches at a stunning strike rate of 142.73 as well. Miller has also scored more than 350 runs in 3 successive seasons from 2013 to 2015 but he could only manage to go past the 200-run mark only once in the next 6 years as well.
However, David Miller was bought for Rs 3 crore by Gujarat Titans but not many would have thought that the veteran South African star could be a threat to the opponents and became the Most Valuable Player for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 as well. The swashbuckling batter also did well in the finisher’s role for Gujarat, getting the runs at an average of close to 70 as well.

“It’s been one of my most memorable seasons, just in terms of the team. As I have said so many times before, there have been so many contributors for the team throughout the competition. Obviously being the underdogs throughout the competition, it’s really nice to lift the trophy. Very, very memorable for me,” David Miller told IPLT20.com in interaction with Rashid Khan.
However, David Miller was exceptional against spin and the big-hitting batter also took on the Rajasthan Royals’ spinners in the Qualifier 1 and Sunday’s final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as well. He smashed a total of 206 runs against spin and has an average of excess of 100 against spinners in IPL 2022 as well. The South African star has also said that he had worked tremendously hard on facing spin over the last 2-3 years and that he is happy that his hard work has paid off. Notably, he remained unbeaten at 32 from just 19 balls on Sunday as Gujarat chased down a below-par target of 131 in just 18.1 overs as well.

“I started working hard. I have failed so many times, batting in the middle order is difficult with the run rate and the fact that every situation is very different and give myself the best chance and stay calm. But what I have really enjoyed this season has been playing spin. I have been working really hard in the last 3-4 years agaist spin. I never really thought I had an issue but I changed 1 or 2 things and it worked. Very chuffed about that,” David Miller signed off.
