The BCCI has announced the IPL 2022 schedule on March 6. It will kick off with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai from 7.30 pm IST. The first game will recreate the IPL 2021 final flavour with KKR trying to turn the table against the defending champions. IPL 2022 will be a 10-team event with franchises from Lucknow and Guhareat being added to the league as well.

A total of 74 matches will take place across the four venues in Maharashtra. 20 matches each will be played at the Wankhede Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium whereas 15 matches each will take place at the Brabourne Stadium and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The BCCI has also allowed a 25 per cent crowd after proper discussions with the state government. With this, crowds will be back in the stadiums after two years due to the COVID-19 rules and regulations as well.
