Rajasthan Royals’ veteran middle-order player Shimron Hetmyer has recently revealed the name of his biggest coach as well as his harshest critic and the person is none other than his wife. Hetmyer, who has been in a sublime form this season of IPL 2022, has added that he has taken his wife’s advice and has tried to take his time in the middle to set his eyes in, instead of going to smash from the first ball. He is currently in action in their next game against KKR on Monday, 2nd May. He scored a quick 26* against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last encounter to provide Rajasthan with a late surge while batting first. However, his innings came in a tough situation against the KKR as they won the game by a narrow margin of seven runs.

“It’s about just giving myself the chance” – Shimron Hetmyer

“It’s about just giving myself the chance. For the first two years I didn’t really give myself a chance the base to get set. This year and in the last year, I said to myself to give a chance to know what the conditions are doing before getting going. My wife has been my biggest coach and my harshest critic and she told me to give myself a couple of balls to judge what’s happening and then take off,” revealed Shimron Hetmyer on Star Sports just before the game.

“I want to learn how to reverse-sweep from Jos Buttler” – Hetmyer

While speaking on what are the things he has been learning in his new franchise, Hetmyer has shared that he wants to learn the reverse sweep from Jos Buttler. However, Buttler has been in a prolific form and he played the reverse sweep in his knocks for quite a while now, which allows him to access the offside more if in case he fails to get the ball in his area. The veteran England batter has been scoring centuries frequently this season and amassed over 500 runs from just nine matches so far as well. “I want to learn how to reverse-sweep from Jos Buttler. I am practising that in the nets but only getting hit. And the scoop also. When I am batting with him, he makes things easier. Thank god I am not a bowler bowling at the Wankhede, it’s a good ground for batters,” Shimron Hetmyer concluded.
