The likes of Dwayne Bravo, Robin Uthappa, Mitchell Santner, and Ambati Rayudu were retained. For the first time, Chennai Super Kings broke the bank for Deepak Chahar and paid him Rs 14 crore. However, the pacer might be ruled out for a big chunk of the IPL as he has suffered a quadriceps injury.

The likes of Chris Jordan, Dwaine Pretorius, and Adam Milne might be needed to shore up the bowling that looks a little weak.
