The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has given us all the thrills of a fascinating cricketing campaign. There were some fantastic performances. Some special performances from individuals have been a story all through the season. Batters like Jos Buttler, KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Hardik Pandya and David Miller have consistently delivered for their sides. Bowlers have done their part as well. Yuzvendra Chahal has taken the most wickets followed by Wanindu Hasaranga, Kagiso Rabada and Umran Malik. Not just numbers, some of them have wowed us with boundaries, sixes and fiery spells.

Royal Challengers Bangalore is a team that has impressed in the 15th edition of the IPL. They have come close to playing in the final this time. They have a lot to assess and prepare themselves for IPL 2023. Apart from signing new players, the franchise will have to plan on who to retain and release. Like the players who have impressed, there are a few players that they have to let go. A very well planned auction can be a boost for any franchise in the IPL.

IPL 2022 Royal Challengers Bangalore: Five players that can be released

Jason Behrendorff

Jason Behrendorff wasn’t fortunate enough to feature for the Bangalore side in the 15th edition of the IPL. He wasn’t seen as a starter ahead of his Australian teammate Josh Hazlewood. He was drafted in at a price of INR 75 lakh and it doesn’t seem like RCB would want to stick on to him.

Sherfane Rutherford

Sherfane Rutherford could only play three matches for RCB in 2022. In these three matches he couldn’t make a significant contribution. Though he has featured for three different teams in money-rich league, Rutherford is yet to live up to his potential.

Finn Allen

Finn Allen is an explosive top order batsman who has impressed in T20 matches but he failed to feature in a match for RCB in 2022. Being a batsman with an impressive profile, Allen might be better suited in a side where he is one of first choices.

Anuj Rawat

Anuj Rawat opened for RCB alongside skipper Faf du Plessis but didn’t manage to  impress the buyers except for the 47-ball 66 against Mumbai Indians (MI). He scored 129 runs in eight innings which is below average. The left-hander was drafted in at a price of INR 3.40 crores and it won’t surprising if the Bangalore franchise decides to release him.

Siddharth Kaul

Siddharth Kaul played his only game of the IPL 2022 season against Gujarat Titans (GT). He conceded 43 runs and didn’t managed to take any wickets. Unsurprisingly, he was benched in the playoffs. After a dismal campaign, Kaul might not feature again for the Bangalore side.
