Vancouver’s season so far has been inconsistent, having recorded seven wins and eight defeats in 18 MLS games. Meanwhile their recent form has been pretty good, registering three wins, one draw and one loss in their last five games across all competitions. In their latest outing against LAFC, Vanni Sartini’s men secured all three points courtesy of Andres Cubas’ lone goal in the 89th-minute. It was a brilliant performance from the Canadian club as they did not allow LAFC to register even a single shot on target in the entire match. It was the Black and White’s second consecutive clean sheet.
Minnesota, on the other hand, were involved in a five-goal thriller at Allianz Field. Minnesota took a two-goal lead in the first half courtesy of Emmanuel Reynoso’s brace before Muis Amarill tripled the lead just after the hour-mark. Although Real Salt Lake reduced the deficit courtesy of goals by Jefferson Savarino and Anderson Julio, the Loons held on to the slender lead and secured all three points. It was their seventh league win of the season and first in their last seven games across all competitions.
Vancouver goalkeeper Cropper, who has kept consecutive clean sheets in the last three league games, is likely to continue in goal with Brown, Dibassy and Lawrence forming the three-man central defence. Godinho and Gauld would occupy the flanks with Teibert, Cubas and Raposo forming the midfield trio. As for Minnesota, last game’s double goal hero Reynoso will be a key player in the attacking department with Amarilla leading the attack alongside Fragapane and Hlongwane. Boxall is expected to partner Dibassy in the central defence.
Vancouver Whitecaps probable starting lineup: Cropper; Brown, Veselinovic, Blackmon; Godinho, Telibert, Cubas, Raposo, Gauld; White, Cavallini.
Minnesota United probable starting lineup: Clair; Taylor, Boxall, Dibassy, Lawrence; Trapp, Lod; Hlongwane, Reynoso, Fragapane; Amarilla
