USA will take on Canada in a Gold Cup quarter-final fixture at TQL Stadium on Sunday night. The Stars and Stripes topped Group A with a thumping 6-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago on matchday three, while the Canucks got the better of Cuba 4-2 to advance into the last eight as runner-ups from Group D. Meanwhile, this will be the second clash between these two sides in the space of three weeks, having faced off in the CONCACAF Nations League final last month, which the Yanks won 2-0 thanks to first-half goals from Chris Richards and Folarin Balogun.

USA didn’t have a great start to their continental campaign, coming-from-behind to earn 1-1 draw against Jamaica, but the Americans got their acts together in the next two group-fixtures, securing a pair of 6-0 wins against Saint Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago. The Stars and Stripes put six goals past Soca Warriors last Sunday courtesy of Jesus Ferreira’s hat-trick and one goal each from Cade Cowell, Gianluca Busio and Brandon Vazquez. The result extended their unbeaten run to nine games across all competitions, winning six matches in the period. Meanwhile, BJ Callaghen’s men have been lethal up front in this competition, having scored the most number of goals (13) in the group phase. And, for the 16th time in 17 editions of the Gold Cup, the Yanks won their group.
Canada, on the other hand, surprisingly finished two points behind Guatemala in Group D. The Canucks started off their campaign with back-to-back draws against Guadeloupe (2-2) and Guatemala (0-0), before getting the better of Cuba last time out. John Herdman’s men secured all three points against Los Leones del Caribe on Tuesday night courtesy of goals from Junior Hoilett, Jonathan Osorio, Jayden Nelson and Liam Miller. Although the victory helped Canucks to move five points, it was their lowest tally in the group phase since 2017.
USA probable starting lineup: Turner, Reynolds, Miazga, Neal, Jones, Gressel, Sands, Mihailovic, Cowell, Ferreira, Zendejas
Canada probable starting lineup: St. Clair, Laryea, Vitoria, Miller, Ahmed, Osorio, Fraser, Bombito, Millar, Hoilett, Cavallini
