Sassuolo suffered their 14th league-defeat of the season against Lazio on Wednesday night courtesy of goals from Felipe Anderson and Tom Basic. It was their 12th top flight victory of the season and with safety already assured, Alessio Dionini’s side will be aiming to bettering last year’s 11th-place finish and points total of 50. Meanwhile, Sassuolo are unbeaten in their last five home-games, while winning four matches in the period. The Neroverdi have the eighth best home-record in the top flight this term, having taken 27 points from a possible 48 thus far.
Bologna, on the other hand, have won only five league-games on the road this term and their last away-win came against European challengers Atalanta (2-0) last month. It was also their 12th league-win of the season and since then, the Petronians have recorded two wins and two defeats from their last four games. On Thursday night, the Red and Blues lost out to Empoli courtesy of Jhon Lucumi’s own goal and one goal each from Jean-Daniel Akpro and Nicolo Cambiaghi. Meanwhile, Bologna scored a consolation goal through Riccardo Orsolini’s 88th-minute penalty kick. On a positive note, the Felsinians thrashed Sassuolo 3-0 in the revers fixture in November last year thanks to goals from Michel Aebischer, Marko Arnautovic and Lewis Ferguson.
