There are not many leagues that can match the difficulty level of English Premier League. The games are played at such a fast-paced manner, it will be extremely difficult to keep up pace with the opposition. Besides, a lot of teams play physical football, which does not suit every player. With the competitive level of the league at its highest, each and every game will drain most of the energy out of a player. This makes it difficult for a footballer to consistently maintain his standards in the division for long.

In such a harsh environment, it is even more difficult to imagine how young players would survive. With plenty of players frequently coming out of the club’s academy, there is no shortage for footballers. However, the question is whether they would be able to match the physically demanding league. Most of the players fail to cope up with the required level, thereby their clubs send them out on loan to help them improve their match fitness. However, some players hit the ball rolling at a very young age to quickly establish themselves at the highest level. Hence, let us look at the top three youngest players to reach 50 goal involvements in Premier League.

1) Michael Owen (19 years, 68 days)

It is not surprising to see the former English striker topping this coveted list. Michael Owen rose to fame at such a young age. He quickly started to turn people’s heads with his impressive finishing ability, however, Owen was more than just a goal scorer. His ability to control the ball under pressure and the way he took it past the defenders was a delight to watch. He broke plenty of records in such a short span of time. Hence, unsurprisingly, Owen is the youngest player at 19 years and 68 days to reach 50 goal involvements in Premier League – a record still stands today.

2) Wayne Rooney (20 years, 54 days)

Wayne Rooney hit the ground running at a very young age. He broke through the ranks at Everton filled with enormous potential. Rooney was expected to break several goal scoring records, which he duly did during his illustrious trophy-filled career. The former English forward received most of his plaudits during his time with Manchester United. Under Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign, Rooney reached great heights by regularly scoring goals for fun. He was an instrumental part of United’s success under Sir Alex’s final years as the club manager.

2) Robbie Fowler (20 years, 167 days)

The former English striker played for a number of clubs, however, it was at Liverpool where he truly made a name for himself. Robbie Fowler was nearly unstoppable in his prime days, as he made life extremely difficult for opposition defence.
